Poor House Road

Scrounge all your goods
Splurge all your gain
Desperately clench the time you have
Yet NOTHING will stay the same.

Take it easy HEED no plan
All diminishes in your hand
dry rots in your care
Shifting blame Life’s no fair!

Walking on creaky floors
Baggage to much to carry
Following your footsteps
Foundations become wary

Climbing up this comfort structure
Tiptoeing over decaying past
Throwing luggage through generations
Seeing how long this crap will last.

Will the next room hold our destination?
As we all REACH in obligation.
To keep each other from falling through
These residue floors we thought were new.

New floors and new to us
are as different as new and different.
Different isn’t always new and
New is not always different.

When will we see this house was never what it seemed
We picked the wrong one at the wrong time it could never be
The home we thought it would be
The joy we thought it would bring
The hope... The hope of something new.. Not just different.
Something different than the old that we already knew to be ... empty.
